Home Case Studies T Panel Bunker Walls and Flooring System - Supplement Feed Storage Bunker

Project

The client approached Bowers, being the specialist in feedout bunkers in the Waikato. With much consultation on feed types and amounts, the Bowers team calculated a suitable Bunker construction that would satisfy the clients growing farming needs. Our specialist team visited the site on numerous

occasions working with the client and excavation contractors to ensure the site ground work was accurate and ready prior to delivery of the Bunker Walls. This project required 2 different size bunkers to allow the storage of both maise & grass silage side by side in the same operational area, this would cut down the time & movement of farm staff & machinery.

Design

Consideration was required when designing the Feedout Bunker surrounding, containment per tonne of supplement feed, moisture leakage from the feed which could compromise the composition of the concrete, general wear and tear from heavy machinery also the potential growth if needed to extend the

bunker in the future. 30mpa concrete was used with the addition of microsilica to harden and protect the surface of the concrete. liquid runoff was channeled towards the containment area, working with the concrete layer this was achieved.

Installation

Installation of the walls took a total of 2 days including delivery. Once the walls were assembled and the joins were sealed using sika 11fc the bunker floor was poured in two stages. The Bowers team were onsite for the entire installation process. Using precast T panels is quick & safe, this system allows the bunker to be built & loaded with product in under 30 days.
