Frequently Asked Questions
What do I need to start?
The first thing to consider when designing an AB Fence is what is the desired maximum height and what are the wind pressures the fence needs to resist. The resulting design will provide the maximum post spacing for your project.
Are the blocks split-faced on both sides?
No, the AB Fence Blocks have a split-faced look on one side and striated look on the other side that gives the system the ability to offer many different looks and styles.
What are the minimum pile depth and diameter required?
The minimum pile depth and diameter recommended are 1.22 metres and 0.61 metres
respectively. However, each project must be evaluated individually.
Can the AB Fence Cap be used for both the panels and posts?
Yes, there is only one type of AB Fence Cap available in New Zealand, so it can be used in both panels and posts.
What is the AB Fence Ashlar Blend?
The AB Fence Ashlar Blend is part of the Allan Block family. The Ashlar Blend uses four AB Fence blocks; AB Fence Panel, AB Fence Lite Panel, AB Fence Half Panel, and AB Fence Half Lite Panel, to create beautiful and unique patterned AB Fence.
What is preferred a Castellated or Non-Castellated finished?
The preferred method is a castellated finish where the posts are taller than the panel by and least one block, as it is easier to construct since you are not matching the post and panel heights.
How many courses should be stacked vertically before grouting the post blocks?
We recommend staking a maximum of 6 courses (1.2 metres).
What is the AB Fence transmission loss (dB)?
The transmission loss of the AB Fence is 32 dB.
What can I use to secure the AB Fence Cap blocks?
A high-quality, flexible, all-weather masonry adhesive will be perfect to secure the AB Fence Cap units in place.
